Gathered Fabric Flower Tutorial

These flowers are so fun to make.  You do not need any sewing skills to perfect them.  I made these out of extra scraps I had lying around.  Happy flower making.

Step1:
Cut out a circle from your fabric.  It does not matter on the size.  My circle was about 5 inches in diameter and made a 2inch in diameter flower.  The bigger the circle the bigger the flower.

Step 2:
Thread a needle with thread (doubled) and tie a knot in the end.  Fold over your fabric about 1/2 inch and with the needle and thread sew in and out of the fabric.

You will continue this all the way around the circle.

This is what it will look like when you are done.

Step 3:
Carefully start pulling on the thread.  (If you break your thread you will have to start over).  Keep pulling until all the fabric is gathered and it looks like you have a little coin pouch.

Step 4:
Sew through the top of the "coin pouch" to sew the opening shut.  Tie it off a few times with a knot.

This is what it should look like when you are done.

Step 5:
Glue on your middle piece.  I used a button but I have also used fun brads.  Use your imagination.

And then you are finished!

Use them on hair clips, headbands, necklaces, shoe clips and more!
